Kuwait will face a tough test in their first international competitive tournament after being drawn alongside 2018 finalists Japan in the 2021 Asian Women’s Handball Championship, slated for Amman on September 15. The Kuwaitis will also face Afghanistan, India, Iran and host nation, Jordan, in Group B, while Group A includes reigning champions, South Korea, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Singapore and Uzbekistan, the draw revealed on Wednesday.

This year’s event will be held without the attendance of spectators due to fears over the spread of COVID-19, organisers said. The group draw was administered by Kuwaitis Bader Al-Theyab, International Handball Federation (IHF) Vice-President and Asian Handball Federation (AHF) Treasurer, and Asian Handball Federation Executive Director Ahmed Abu Al-Lail (KUNA)
