KUWAIT: To express solidarity with the people of Kashmir for their courage and continued struggle for the right of self-determination, a special ceremony was held on Thursday, Feb 05 at Pakistan Embassy in Kuwait, with large number of people from Pakistani community and officials of the embassy participated.
The ceremony began with recitation from the Holy Quran and Anthem of Pakistan. The messages of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out to the participants. These messages reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to stand by Kashmiri brothers and sisters in their legitimate struggle against foreign occupation.
The Ambassador H.E Mohammad Aslam Khan, in his address, highlighted the significance of the Kashmir Solidarity Day and Pakistan’s efforts to secure a solution to the long-standing Kashmir dispute. He stressed upon the support of the international community especially the Muslim countries in resolving the Kashmir dispute as per UN resolutions. Pakistan was committed to extending full moral, diplomatic and political support to the Kashmiri people till the realization of their right to self-determination, he added.
A documentary film, highlighting the peaceful protests of the unarmed Kashmiris against the occupation forces was also shown to the audience.
The ceremony ended with collective prayers for the success of the Kashmir struggle and peace and prosperity of Pakistan.

Pakistani community is requested to participate and show their sentiments for Kashmiri People.
KUWAIT: Pakistan Naval Ship “TARIQ” will be visiting Kuwait on a goodwill visit from February 01 to February 05, 2015. The ship is named after a gallant Muslim conqueror TARIQ BIN ZIYAD. His conquest of Gibralter led to the extension of the Muslim rule in Europe. The life of Tariq Bin Ziyad is full of achievements, which are a source of great inspiration to Muslims all over the world; sailors of Pakistan Navy are no exception. They take great pride in serving onboard their ship that has been named after one of the greatest leaders in Islamic history.
PNS TARIQ (D-181), the Ex-HMS AMBUSCADE is a general purpose Frigate. She was the first of the Type 21 Frigates built by Yarrows Ltd of Glasgow and launched on 17 January 1973. It was commissioned as Ex HMS AMBUSCADE into the Royal Navy on 5 September 1975 and was the seventh ship in the Royal Navy to hold this name. Her career has encompassed all aspects of a warship’s life from exercises to guard ship duties and from peacetime visits to the full heat war in Falkland Islands.
This ship was commissioned as a PNS TARIQ on 28 July 1993 at DAVEN PORT, play mouth (UK). This is third ship in Pakistan Navy to hold this name. The first was HMPS TARIQ, which was inherited from Royal Indian Navy soon after independence in 1947. The second was a gearing class Destroyer, which was commissioned on 9 September 1978, after rendering 12 years of glorious service, the ship was decommissioned and handed over to Maritime Security Agency in 1990.
PNS Tariq has undergone a major modification in regard to her weapons and sensors. Major modernization of the ship was carried out indigenously by replacing the obsolete Command Systems, weapon and sensors.
The Commanding Officer of PNS Tariq Captain Waqar Muhammad TI (M) PN was commissioned in Pakistan Navy on 01 July 1992. He is a Communication specialist, qualified Air War Course from Air War College PAF and Master of Science in System Engineering from Naval Post-Graduates School, Monterey, USA. He has been assigned on numerous operational, field and staff appointments during his 22 year of commissioned service. Prominent field assignments include Divisional Officer PNA, O I/C PN HFDF Setup and Instructor PN Communication School/Electronic Warfare Training Center. His important staff appointments include Director of Signals at Naval Headquarters, Fleet Operations Officer and LNO to CCTF-151 at Bahrain. He has also served as an Executive Officer PNS TARIQ & PNS RAHBER, Communication Officer PNS TIPPU SULTAN and First Lieutenant PNS NASR.
He was promoted to the rank of Captain on 1st October 2012. He assumed the duties of Commanding Officer PNS BABUR in September 2013 and presently serving as Commanding Officer PNS TARIQ since May 2014. During the stay in Kuwait, the Captain of the ship will pay courtesy calls on the dignitaries of Kuwait Navy. A reception onboard will also be arranged which would be attended by the high civil and military officials of the State of Kuwait, diplomats, notables and representatives of the Pakistani community.
Pakistan Naval ships periodically undertake goodwill visits to the State of Kuwait which provide a good opportunity to Pakistan Navy officials to interact with their Kuwaiti counterparts. Such visits also help in further cementing the historical relations.
Embassy of Pakistan: A candle light vigil and Dua (Prayers) will be held in the Embassy of Pakistan, Kuwait on Thursday, 18 December 2014 from 5 pm in remembrance of the victims of the terrorist attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar. Embassy of Pakistan: The Ambassador of Pakistan to Kuwait, H.E. Muhammad Aslam Khan, and the officers and staff of the Embassy and their families express their utmost shock and grief over the loss of the precious lives of a large number of school children and other innocent citizens in the terrorist attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar on 16 December 2014. May Allah Almighty rest the departed souls in eternal peace and grant the bereaved families the courage to bear this irreparable loss!
They strongly condemn the terrorist attack and express the confidence that such cowardly acts would not weaken the determination of the Pakistani nation and its brave armed forces to eliminate terrorism and extremism in all its forms and manifestations.
The Ambassador today attended a crowded Ghaibana Namaze Janaza held in Kuwait attended by Pakistani community members, Kuwaiti friends and other nationalities. A wreath-laying ceremony and Dua would be held in the Chancery premises of the Embassy on 18 December 2014 at 1100 hours.
A condolence book has been opened in the Embassy for the diplomatic corps from 16 to 18 December for signing between 1000 to 1500 hours.

Embassy of Pakistan: The Ambassador of Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Muhammad Aslam Khan, today called on H.E. Sheikh Slaman Sabah Salem Al-Hamood Al-Sabah, Minister of Information and Minister of State of Youth Affairs of Kuwait. The Ambassador briefed the Minister on the desire of Pakistani leadership to expand cooperation between the two brotherly countries in diverse fields.
The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation in the fields of media, culture and youth affairs. The Minister assured the Ambassador of his full support to the Embassy's efforts in this regard.
